Book Club News
Thank you, Joan, for hosting last week. It was great to finally see everyone again after such a hiatus, thanks to Tropical Storm Irene!
We have never discussed two books at one time before--two great books, with a lot to discuss. Anyway, we are back on track and ready to start reading again!
Here are the upcoming choices. Please let me know by Friday October 21st if you want me to order any or all of the books for you.
Email: jenniferiannantuoni@yahoo.net.
December 1st at Jamie's house: Their Eyes Were Watching God, by Zora Neale Hurston. The cost is approximately $9.50 (or less if I can find used copies). This is a very old book, published in the 1920s. There should be plenty of library copies out there, but it's also a good classic to add to your collection if you don't already have it.
January 16th at Hannah's house: I Don't Know How She Does It, by Allison Pearson. The cost is approximately $4-5. This is the perfect holiday read--quick, easy, and a perfect reminder of all that we women do on a daily basis, especially around the holidays! How do we do it?
February 16th at Karen Bowle's home: Second Glances, by Jodi Picoult. The cost is $6.50. I will also try to find used copies for less.
Happy Reading!
Take care, Jennifer

The Sherburne Women's Club has received the following message from the Rutland County Women's Network and Shelter. Please take the time to read it and see if it something that you would like to support. Thank you.
Your group and many of its members have been long-time supporters of the work RCWN&S has done to support victims and work to end domestic violence in Rutland County. With that in mind I wanted to send along an email to announcing an upcoming fundraiser for RCWN&S that I was hoping you may be able to pass along if appropriate. So much has been happening since Irene, and so many have worked so tirelessly to support those in need that this might be just the sort of event to re-nourish the soul of some of your members or those they know. The following is the event information.

Sante Fe Golf Tournament
Green Mountain National Golf Course
Thursday, September 15th, 2011
Bakers and Volunteers Urgently Needed!
The Sherburne Women's Club has attended the Sante Fe Golf Tournaments for many years. Members have generously baked goods for the Club to sell to the golfers. This is a very successful fundraiser for us.
If you can find the time to bake for us, it would be greatly appreciated. Please drop off your contribution at The Green Mountain National Golf Course at 10:30 AM on Thursday, September 15th.
So please, if you can give some time between the hours of 11 AM and 5 PM to help sell the baked goods or work the grill, that would be fantastic. Even one hour of your time would really be a great help. All volunteers can get in touch with Kim Gaines, who is coordinating the volunteers. Contact her by email at: kgaines81@yahoo.com or by phone at 516-782-8552.

Circus performers need Host families!
Killington Town is looking for families that can host the talented youth performers (ages 8-18) in their homes. Through the Circus Smirkus youth Homestay Program, community members are paired with Troupers, providing the child performers a safe and welcoming home during their time away and from the show site. Homestay hosts provide meals for Troupers, provide a quiet location for Troupers to sleep and wind down after a day of shows, and ensure that Troupers are transported to and from Pico Mountain in a safe and timely manner. Hosting a Trouper can be an exciting experience, especially for families with children of similar ages. The Homestay Families would need to host at least two Troupers for the three nights of August 13, 14, and 15.
If you are interested or have any questions, please call Lynsey at 802-422-2146, or by contact her by e-mail at lyndsaygang@killingtontown.com.
